You Might Want to File This One Away for Later
My youngest son got it into his head the other day that he wanted some sugar cookies.
1) I didn’t want to go to the store to buy them
2) I happened to have the ingredients on hand
3) therefore we baked cookies in July……Hot, HOT July.
But in the process of making these cookies, we found a great new recipe. Now, you might want to save these for when you need some cookies this fall or around the holidays if you are not crazy and don’t cave into the urge to bake when the temperature is 95plus.
These are delicious cookies. We ate way too many of them. And, as a result, I’ve decided that I’m done baking cookies until October. When that month rolls around I’ll definitely be pulling this recipe out.
Easy Sugar Cookies
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
2 t. Grand Marnier
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, stir together flour baking soda and baking powder.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and Grand Marnier. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients (I added flour 1/4 cup at a time). Use a tablespoon-sized ice cream scoop to portion the dough out on to the ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake 8-10 minutes or until just lightly touched with brown. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool.
*Feel free to substitute vanilla for the Grand Marnier. Do you know why I use Grand Marnier instead of vanilla? Because I keep forgetting to buy it. Today I made different recipe that called for vanilla…..I used vodka for that one and it came out okay. Just put something in there.
