Chair is Finished
The saga of the Dux chair is over. Here is a quick rundown.
You may recall that Jon got the free Dux chair from some folks who posted on Craigslist. It was a cool chair. In fact, it reminds me a bit of this one. It was covered in SMELLY black fabric. I started taking it apart and discovered that the fabric wasn’t the worst of it. I thought, before beginning, that the foam would need replacing and that it was deteriorating, somewhat. That would be an understatement. As I ripped the chair apart, the foam ran out like sand. Actually, that voice, from Days of Our Lives kept running through my head during this part of the process, the one that says, “Like sands through the hourglass, these are the days of our lives.” So, anyway, when one takes a chair apart, the whole thing is like a puzzle in reverse. And part of my puzzle was missing. That made the whole process more of a guess and more lengthy, too, since I didn’t guess right sometimes. So, yes, it took awhile. It was exhausting. It was sort of fun and, yes, I’ll probably so another project someday. But, I’m finished with upholstery for now.
In closing, I would like to thank
1. Jon, for abiding with the mess and buying more staples
2. Nathan for his kind comments and general encouragement
3. Van Morrison, The Bees, The Kinks, the Meet the Robinsons Soundtrack, and any other band that my picky CD player would deem worthy of playing
4. Beer, of course
5. My stubborn nature — it comes in handy sometimes
