My Margarita Recipe
is sort of a work in progress. But, I’ve been experimenting lately and have taken all of your wonderful suggestions and have found a recipe that is acidic enough, not too sweet, and not so alcoholic that it interferes with productivity (if you only have one…).
Here it is:
4 to 24 hours ahead juice enough limes to have 1/2 cup lime juice and enough lemons to have 1/2 cup lemon juice. (If you are thinking way ahead and it is going to be 24 hours before you consume the margaritas, you may also add some lemon and lime zest — up to 4 teaspoons. If you are consuming before 24 hours, skip the zest.) Stir 1/4 cup agave nectar into the combined juices, cover and refrigerate.
When you are ready to have the margaritas, put the lime/lemon/agave mixture in a shaker or pitcher with some ice. Add 5/8 cup triple sec and 5/8 cup silver tequila. Stir or shake well and serve over ice. (The recipe I adapted this from calls for a cup each tequila and triple sec….I thought 5/8 cup of each enough. Feel free to use a cup of each if you want….)
This makes 4-6 servings.
Happy Sunday!
