Granola and Super T
I have a new recipe for granola that I’ve been wanting to make for a couple of weeks now. It sounds so, so yummy. The ingredients are oats, pistachios, walnuts, coconut chips, maple syrup, evoo, light brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, cardamom, and dried apricots.
Sounds delicious, right? Now, I’ll post my recipe when I do make it because I’m just using the ingredients as a jumping off point. For instance, I’ll probably not use 2 different types of sweetener. I don’t really like sweet granola and using a whole lot of maple syrup in a recipe kind of goes against my frugal nature.
Main question here: what kind of cardamom should I buy? I saw green, black and some in pods (the green kind, I think) at the store. Does it matter? Anybody have any cardamom advice? Maybe I should just mosey on over to Penzey’s.
Okay, switching gears from granola, here.
Last night, Jon and I all of a sudden remembered a band that we used to see while in college. I don’t know why we got to thinking about it but we did. The band is the Tyrone Smith Revue, also known as Super T. The band’s official website is here. Basically, this band has been touring the South for the past 30 years — they even played the White House a few years ago. The front man, Super T, is in his seventies, y’all. He has more spine flexibility than most 30 year olds that I know. The audio on this clip is awful, but you might get a kick out of the first 30 seconds or so when he whips off his cape to reveal his Super T outfit, complete with red cowboy boots. Too bad the recording is so terrible because they are actually a really tight band with some accomplished musicians.
Makes me want to figure out what I can do for a living that would be as much fun as they seem to have in this band.
Happy Saturday night, everyone!
