Cupboard Bingo
is what I feel like I’m playing everyday as I cook dinner. Why? Because, it is the chore of my oldest son to unload the dishwasher at the end of his BLASTED ACADEMICS everyday.
It always makes me smile, and not only because he is doing one of my least favorite chores, but because he puts things away in such creative ways. Never the same way twice — that’s his dish putting away motto.
It should be established, of course, what kind of kitchen I have, so that y’all can get a visual on this.
I’ve made peace with my kitchen, even though it isn’t remotely cute or elegant. It is technically an eat-in kitchen that I can’t imagine having a table for eating IN since it is tiny. The couple who lived here before us ate in there with their 5 children. How they did it is beyond me. There are cupboards all around, and J puts things away sort of well, depending on the day and the distraction level.
Usually, it is funny, though, even when he gets it wrong, because there is some zany sense at play.
Example:
Where would you think that J would place this
1/4 metal measuring cup?
Perhaps in the drawer with
this cup that looks similar, though it lacks a handle?
Or, maybe with
this cup that looks different but has the writing on the handle “1/4 cup”?
What do you think, do you think that he would put it in the drawer under the stove that holds a frying pan that is shaped like and fashioned from the same material as the metal measuring cup?
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.
By the way, he is doing a scene from the movie Elmo in Grouchland on his blog, Wacktopia today. I couldn’t believe how spot on parts of his performance were.
JLB keeps it interesting.
