My Today
Today someone turned the thermostat to 80
It wasn’t me
At 5 p.m. we were roasting
Today someone turned the fridge to an 8
It wasn’t me
We ate pickles from the arctic on our hamburgers
Today my middle two sparred all day
I should have done something
But I didn’t know what to do
Today my youngest told a man to watch out
That the butterflies might bite him
He smilingly called the man old and we kept walking
Today I have to finish a child-rearing book
It is due at the library
The dog chewed the corner
Roasting and
arctic pickles and
sparring and
butterflies and smiles and
the dog chewing.
That about sums it up.
Today.
