Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody. I apologize for the absence. That is how it goes, y’all. I have had a very nice Valentine’s Day. Once again, Jon got the drop on me and outdid me, presents-wise. He got me a beautiful sweater set, some YUMMY chocolates and some lemon verbena lotion. What did I get him? Some gin. It was kind of nice gin, but still. One day I’m going to surprise the daylights out of him — sweet man that he is. The rest of the day consisted with the usual — plus the sick baby taking one giant nap while I made gluten-free and non-gluten free cupcakes and frosting. I’m grilling hamburgers later and making homemade fries (recipe to follow soon — maybe tomorrow) for dinner tonight. I’m sure that #3 will think that this is a great dinner. I know that I will enjoy not getting his hound-dog eyes looking at me over a plate of food that he wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole. That boy. Tonight the menu will be a break for the both of us, in a way. The boys had fun with their Valentine’s Day parties at school. And, even though #1 is being homeschooled this semester, his former classmates all sent him valentines. They sent him a book, too, which they had all signed and written little messages to him in. Those are sweet children and such a kind teacher. #1 was really blessed by all of them. Later, we hope to go see our Miss Liz, who is finally getting better for good, we hope, at a rehab facility here in St. Louis. We’re taking her a balloon and a Pooh card that says, “It’s friendlier with two…”. Don’t you just love A.A. Milne? I must go grill burgers in the Spring-like weather. Check back tomorrow for the recipe for homemade fries. :)
