Welcome to the Realm of Randomness
Of course, you know that already. One day it’s a recipe, one day a walk down memory lane, one day it’s about a conversation with one of my crazy boys. If you only knew…anyway, today is no different, except it is all of that all together. So, what’s been going on? Well……..
1) Today, my 3rd son was home from school again with a mystery fever. He stopped me right before I left the house to pull up the hem of my trouser and look at my flowery socks and Dansko clogs. What did he then say? After nodding, in a sort of an appraising way, he said, “Keep up the good work.” And then he went back to playing Star Wars. He is at least a little bit odd.
2) Speaking of Dansko shoes, yes, Trinny and Susannah would throw them out…but are they comfortable! I recently discovered that I should never shop for shoes while wearing my Danskos. I came home empty handed. Nothing felt good enough to buy.
3) Yes, I’m still watching a little reality TV. My favorites on AI are Jason, David, and Brooke. And, yes. They all made it into the top 12. Now they just need to work on that charisma thing.
I was really pleased with this season of Project Runway. In the end, I’m happy that Christian won. He is super talented and I think that he really needed the win. If it I had been the sole judge, however, I would have picked Rami. His designs were exquisite — even though he needed to use different colors.
4) Speaking of clothes, I got the newest issue of the J.Crew catalogue today. I’m thinking of making a version of this jacket and may even try to make this dress (it’s so seventies, right?). But do you know what interested me the most? They did the whole photo shoot at the historic Kaufmann House. (Neutra,1946) That house is just so wonderful. One day, I would love to visit a Neutra house in person.
5) Finally, my baby, who is now 4, has been having a rough week. I don’t want to diagnose him or start throwing symptoms around, but well, there it is.
The other day, I went to get him from Occupational Therapy. When I got there, he and his OT were coming down the hall to meet me. Well, he wanted to run down the hall but she was holding his hand and explaining that running wasn’t appropriate. He kept trying to run and then he lost it and just turned around and socked her. (By the way, did you know that the floor does not obey the wish that it would open up and swallow you? I should know, lately I’ve been making that wish on a daily basis.)
May I say that I’m very glad that he had on his mittens? May I also say that I’m glad that his aim is terrible? So, of course he had to apologize to her. He was truly sorry and said, “I’m so sorry I hit you. And, I love you.” Then he hugged her neck and told her that he loved her again. She told him that it was okay and that she knew that everyone has hard days. At that point, he hugged her one more time and said, “And, you love me too?” Can you tell that he’s had to apologize a lot lately?
And since that monkey fell asleep with his head on the table during dinner tonight and will, no doubt, be up before the sun, I’m going to sign off for now.
Tomorrow I’m going to try to potty train him (AGAIN).
Have mercy.
